Unknown gunmen shoot son, kill father and abduct wife in Edo state

A 3-year old boy is now on a danger list in a private hospital in Benin after being shot by unknown gunmen who killed his father and abducted his mother this weekend.

He was shot in Oghodua , Off Iyeware Street in Ohovbe area, Benin City.

Local media reported that the boy’s father, Olowo Lafe, who was a Sales Representative in a pharmacy, was returning home with his wife and three children in his private car, a Toyota SIENNA with registration number AGL-545-AQ when the gunmen attacked.

Gunmen kidnap French national and kill 2 others in Katsina

A group of 30 gunmen who stormed a residence in Katsina where expatriate workers were staying kidnapped a French citizen after killing two people, police said Thursday.
“I can confirm the abduction of a French national,” the Katsina state police chief, Abdullahi Magaji, told AFP of the incident late Wednesday.
“The kidnappers numbering about 30 stormed the residence where the engineers of (French company) Vergnet were staying,” he said, adding that a security guard and a neighbour were shot dead in the attack.
The abducted engineer had just returned from a trip outside Nigeria, he addded.

Oldest man in Benue state passes on at age 122

 

The oldest man in Benue State, Evangelist Nehemiah Shawon Ndur died at the age of 122. He passed on after suffering old age for several years.
Gideon his oldest son who disclosed this yesterday in Vandeikya Local Government Area said that he (late Ndur) was still talking until his glorious exit.
He added that the late Evangelist, was a dedicated Christian of the NKST church Uka, Mbawuar in Vandeikya LGA where he celebrated his 122 birthday, in February 2012, for making his dream come true as an apostle of Christ even at old age.

Man bags two weeks imprisonment for illegal parking

Akeem Olanrewaju, a 40 yr old man was on Tuesday sentenced to two weeks imprisonment by an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court for parking illegally on a highway. Akeem, committed the offence on Saturday while driving a Nissan car marked OYO EGB 37 XA around the Orita Challenge in Ibadan by 8.20p.m.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Olalekan Obayanju, accused the defendant of going against the traffic law, by parking his car on the highway, thus committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 34 of the Road Traffic Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
The defendant who pleaded guilty as charged, was sentenced to two weeks imprison with an option of N3,000 fine by Chief Magistrate Adams Adeshina.

Residents flee as Lagos pipeline fire rages

 

Hmmmmm most residents of Ijeododo in Ijegun, Lagos have fled the community following a pipeline explosion and the inferno in the village, located in Ojo Local Government of the state. The NNPC  pipeline exploded on Monday night  in the community.

 As at 9.15pm on Tuesday, no casualty had been reported in the explosion said to have been caused by suspected pipeline vandals.

The incident might worsen the fuel scarcity in the South-West as the pipeline transports petrol

Yakowa’s body arrives in Kaduna

 

Remains of the Late Governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa, and that of his aide and friend, Dauda Tsoho, arrived in Kaduna airport aboard a Nigerian Air Force cargo plane at 2.45pm on Tuesday.

Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ade Ipaye recently disclosed that anyone caught giving false information to obtain the Governor’s Consent would be jailed for one year when convicted.
Ipaye said this at a stakeholders’ meeting on Land Use Act (Title Documentation) 2012, held at the
Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Attorney General lamented on the high rate of documents falsification to obtain land titles and others, saying that such cases occurred on daily basis at the state’s land registry.
He said, “The offence is punishable under section 96 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the offender is liable on conviction to one year imprisonment. Forgery is also another offence if it is established that documents have been falsified.

Man stabbed to death for attempting to settle a fight

 

While attempting to broker peace between an Okada rider and his passenger, a 42-year old man, Demola Talabi was stabbed to death in Osho street, Opebi, Lagos. An Okada rider simply identified as Igali used a screw-driver to stab Talabi on the neck and other parts of his body for preventing him from fighting and stabbing his passenger.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a manager and a housemaid for killing their boss, Alhaja Sikirat Eko, in Omole Phase 1, Lagos State.

Eko was said to be running a restaurant and bar in her compound, where she lived alone with the maid.

This young man Taofeek Muraina never had it good as a child. His adulthood is not even better. This, perhaps, explains why the 40-year-old bricklayer thought it wise to die rather than being put to shame by friends and neighbours.
