Akeem Olanrewaju, a 40 yr old man was on Tuesday sentenced to two
weeks imprisonment by an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court for parking
illegally on a highway. Akeem, committed the offence on Saturday while driving
a Nissan car marked OYO EGB 37 XA around the Orita Challenge in Ibadan by
8.20p.m.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Olalekan Obayanju, accused the defendant of
going against the traffic law, by parking his car on the highway, thus
committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 34 of the
Road Traffic Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
The defendant who pleaded guilty as charged, was sentenced to two
weeks imprison with an option of N3,000 fine by Chief Magistrate Adams
Adeshina.
