Bola Tinubu wants amnesty for Boko-Haram

The national leader of Action congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Thursday in Kano flayed President Goodluck Jonathan for calling members of the Boko Haram sect ‘ghosts,’ saying that the only way forward for the country is to grant amnesty to the angry extremists.

The former Governor who was in Kano to commiserate with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, over the recent attack on him and his convoy, explained that amnesty must be based on justice, particularly for those have no bloodstains on their hands.

Businessman and a close confidant of President Goodluck Jonathan, Arthur Eze has said that the presidential pardon granted former Governor of Bayelsa state, Dipreye Alamieyeseigha and others was a directive from God.

In a chat with state House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Chief Eze, said criticisms against the pardon was misplaced.

Fake doctor arrested for N89m health insurance scam

A fake medical doctor, Mr. Ibukun Ojo, has been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit Ikoyi, Lagos, for his role in an attempt to defraud the Canadian Government of N89m health insurance claims. His accomplice, Steve Fakolujo, is said to be on the run.

In May 2012, Ojo had allegedly prepared a fake medical report for Fakolujo, a Nigerian citizen who resides in Canada. This was to enable Fakolujo to claim the sum of N89m in the form of health insurance from the Canadian Government.

Ojo, an alleged medical dropout from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was until his arrest the Medical Director, Mount Zion Hospital, at 2, Mukandasi Street, Oja-Oke, Oshodi.

Ondo monarch’s palace attack: 8 thugs arrested

No fewer than 10 hoodlums, armed with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons, invaded the Palace of Olu of Igbokoda, Oba Afolabi Odidiomo in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State and brought down the palace on Saturday.

DailyPost gathered that the invasion of the palace was a reprisal by the hoodlums, who wanted to revenge the death of one of them.

According to a source, some of the thugs had earlier invaded Ilaje High School in the town, where an inter school quiz and sport competition was disrupted on Friday.

Man still at large even after family paid N60,000 ransom to Kidnappers

One year after his family paid N60,000 to his kidnappers, Matthew Kuye, a trailer driver at Dikon area of Kirikiri, Lagos is yet to be found.

Kuye, a married man with six children, was last seen at Jimoh Odutola Street, Surulere on January 18, 2012, where he and some of his colleagues had gone to offload containers of goods.

It was learnt that Kuye and his colleagues were told that their vehicles could not be offloaded that evening. He subsequently settled his motor boy for the day and set out for home.

 His son, Israel said, “That was the last time anyone saw him. My mum and siblings tried my father’s number throughout that night but his phone was switched off. I was in Ogun state at the time for my National Youth

The Federal government inaugurates panel to investigate the dead state in Police Colleges

Well the public outcry over the state of Police College in Ikeja has compelled the Federal Government to institute an 11-man committee to probe the decay of such facility across the country.
The committee which has one week to submit its report is expected to ascertain the amount of money appropriated for the police to renovate and upgrade the police institutions between 2009 and 2012.
The probe team raised by the Minister of Police Affairs ,Omoniyi Olubolabe, is headed by the Director of Special duties in the ministry, Mr E A Bature.
Members of the committee are: Rep. of NPF (Vice Chairman); Director, Finance and Account-Member, Director, PID (Member); Director, PSD (Member), 3 Representatives of NPF (Members); Legal Adviser (Member); Head of Budget Division (Member); Head of Internal Audit (Member); Head of External Audit (Member); and Secretary – PRS.

Catholic Church pulls out of CAN for being “run as part of the government”

 

The Administrator of Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Monsignor Christopher Ajala, has explained why the Catholic Church made the decision to pull out of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), claiming that it the organisation was now too close to government.

EFCC arrests 88-year-old grandpa over N1.4million naira scam

 

An 88-year-old grandfather, Olusola Alaba, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged N1.4 million scam. The old man was this week charged before a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja for allegedly obtaining money under false pretext and forgery.
Alaba was accused of fraudulently obtaining N1.4M from one Mrs. Olutoyin Ogundipe, on June 20, 2011 for the purchase of a three bedroom flat located at Plot 8 Oladimeji Alo Street, Lekki Phase One.
